Nalamothu Chenchurama Naidu was a famous leader in the first two decades of Andhra Pradesh politics. He was born in Chinthalapalem village (Zarugumalli mandal), Prakasam district. At that time, Kandukur was part of Nellore district. He played crucial role in the Nellore district politics along with legendary leaders like AC Subbareddy. His statue in Nellore town indicates the stature of Chenchurama Naidu in the Nellore district politics.

Nalamothu Chenchurama Naidu election history:
1951: Congress Party candidate Nalamothu Chenchurama Naidu got 20,101 votes and elected to Madras Assembly from Kandukur general assembly segment.
1955: Nalamothu Chenchurama Naidu (Indian National Congress) elected to the Andhra State assembly from Kondapi assembly segment. He defeated CPI candidate Guntupalli Venkatasubbaiah by 4,407 votes. Naidu got 56% of polled votes.
1962: Elected to Andhra Pradesh assembly from Kandukur assembly segment. Congress Party candidate Nalamothu Chenchurama Naidu defeated Swatantra Party candidate Divi Kondaiah Chowdary by 1,672 votes.
1967: Elected to Andhra Pradesh assembly from Kandukur assembly segment. Congress Party candidate Nalamothu Chenchurama Naidu defeated Swatantra Party candidate YVK Reddy by 5,912 votes.
1972: Nalamothu Chenchurama Naidu lost to Manugunta Audinarayana Reddy by 5,433 votes. First and only loss in a election. From that defeat, he failed to recover and died of heart attack after some months.
